What Pigeon News is
Every story here tells you four things. When it happened. Where it happened. What happened. And where we read it, with a link so you can read it yourself.
That is the whole paper. No opinion pieces. No gossip. Nobody telling you how to feel about the news.
It is made to be read in about five minutes a day. If you want more than that, most stories open up: what led to this, what the law says about it, and what may happen next. The depth is there when you want it. It is never in your way when you do not.
How stories are chosen
First we keep the news that reports a fact, and drop the news that tells you what to think about a fact. Then we put what is left in order, by how much it changes real life — war, government action, courts, money, health — and the top of that list becomes the front page.
How we read the news
We read the news the same way you do. Most of it comes from the public feeds that news sites publish for anyone to read. Sometimes we also open the article page itself, the same page you would open from a link, and read it there.
We never make an account with a news site. We never sign in. We never get around a paywall, and we do not read text that sits behind one. If a site’s computer tells us no, that is the end of it. We do not knock harder.
We do not copy articles. We write our own short account of what happened, and we link to the original so you can read the whole thing where it was published.
If you publish a site and want us to stop
Tell us, and we stop reading your site the same day. You do not have to give a reason. You do not have to send a lawyer. One email is enough: editor@pigeonnewspaper.com
When we get it wrong
We write it down. Every correction we have ever run stays on the corrections page, with the words we first printed. We do not quietly fix a story and move on.
