Refund Policy
Effective date: not yet set — this policy has not been signed

Pigeon is operated by Ingenius LLC. This page says when you get your money back. It is short on purpose.

1. During the free trial you are never charged

Your trial is free. If you cancel before the trial ends, no charge is ever made to your card. You can cancel from your profile page in a few seconds, at any time, including on the first day.

2. Cancelling stops the next charge

You can cancel at any time from Profile → Subscription → Cancel subscription. When you cancel:

  • you are not charged again;
  • you keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for;
  • nothing is deleted — your account, saved stories and saved words stay exactly where they are.

Cancelling is not the same as asking for a refund. If you want money back as well, §3 applies.

3. Fourteen days, no questions asked

If you are unhappy, tell us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund that charge in full. No form, no reason required, no phone call. Write to editor@pigeonnewspaper.com from the email address on your account, or use the “Report a problem” control on any page and choose “Billing”.

This applies to your first charge after a trial and to any renewal charge, monthly or annual.

We aim to process a refund the same day we read your message, and always within 5 business days. It then takes your bank a few more days to show it.

4. If we ever raise the price

We will email you before a new price is charged.

If you are charged at a higher price and you cancel within 14 days of that charge, we will refund the unused part of that term, worked out day by day — not just the 14 days, the whole remaining balance. That is in addition to §3, and you may use whichever gives you more back.

5. After 14 days

After 14 days we do not normally refund a charge you have already paid, and a subscription runs to the end of its term. There are two exceptions, and we apply them without argument:

  • If the Service was unavailable for a long stretch of your term, or a feature you paid for was broken, tell us and we will refund a fair share of the term.
  • If we close your account for a reason that is not your fault, or we stop offering Pigeon entirely, we refund the unused part of your term automatically.

If something happened that these rules do not cover and you think you should have your money back, write to us and say so. A person reads every one of these.

6. If you subscribed inside the iPhone app

We cannot refund an Apple purchase and we cannot cancel it for you. Apple takes the payment and Apple holds the money.

  • To cancel: on your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Pigeon → Cancel Subscription.
  • To ask for a refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find the Pigeon purchase and request a refund. Apple decides.

Deleting your Pigeon account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel it with Apple first.

If Apple turns you down and you think that is unfair, write to us anyway at editor@pigeonnewspaper.com — we cannot reverse Apple’s decision, but we can sometimes credit you on our side instead.

7. Fair use of this policy

This policy is for readers, not for a cycle of subscribing and refunding. We may decline a refund on an account that has already been refunded twice, and we may decline one where we believe the account is being used fraudulently. We will tell you plainly if we do, and why.

8. Disputing a charge with your bank

Please write to us first. We can almost always sort it out faster than your bank can, and a dispute takes weeks. If you do dispute a charge, we will answer the bank honestly and we will not close your account for it.
